He is also the Director of the EAA Centre in Barcelona and Co-Director/Coordinator of the only Master's program in Clinical Andrology in Spain, established in 2012. He has organized over 100 courses and conferences in his specialty, both nationally and internationally, as well as international workshops with students and faculty from around the world. Furthermore, he has presented over 500 papers and lectures in plenary sessions at national and European congresses, as well as in Asian countries, the USA, and South America, on topics related to male infertility, erectile dysfunction, Peyronie's disease, and other related issues.
Furthermore, he is a reviewer for several high-impact international journals and has participated in the editing of clinical guidelines in his specialty. He has also published more than 60 articles on urology and andrology and has participated and continues to participate as Principal Investigator (PI) in multicenter clinical trials on topics related to andrology. Due to his established reputation, he has served as an advisor to several pharmaceutical companies and the Spanish government on matters of male sexuality.
He is dedicated to advancing the fields of male reproductive medicine and reconstructive andrology. As the Director of the Andrology Research Group at the Sant Pau Biomedical Research Institute, he focuses heavily on the genetic architecture of male infertility, investigating X-chromosome exome sequencing and Y-chromosome microdeletions to identify the root causes of idiopathic azoospermia and severe spermatogenic failure.
In the clinical sphere, his interests lie in pioneering treatments for sexual dysfunction. This includes evaluating the efficacy of low-intensity extracorporeal shock wave therapy (Li-ESWT) and refining microsurgical techniques for penile prosthesis implantation. He is also a leading researcher in Peyronie’s disease, exploring innovative grafting materials for tunica albuginea reconstruction. By bridging the gap between translational genetics and complex surgical intervention, his work seeks to improve both diagnostic accuracy and the long-term quality of life for patients facing profound urological and reproductive challenges.
